A Tampa Bay area cost page puts local kitchen projects lower, at roughly $6,200 to $24,600. That page counts small jobs next to full remodels.
Both numbers are real. “Kitchen remodel” covers a lot of ground. Painting cabinets and adding a backsplash is one job. Taking the room back to bare walls and rebuilding it is another.

Kitchen size moves the number as much as finish level does. The same guides price a 75 square foot kitchen at about $5,600 to $17,500. A 100 square foot kitchen runs about $7,500 to $25,000. A galley kitchen starts near $16,200 for a simple update and reaches $31,600 at the top.
Resale figures point the same way. An annual national cost versus value report puts a midrange major kitchen near $82,800. Roughly half of that shows up in home value. A minor remodel returns a much larger share of what it cost.
For most homeowners, a remodel inside the existing footprint is where the money works hardest. The room keeps its layout, and the budget goes into what you see and touch.
What drives the price of a kitchen remodel?
Cabinets. They take close to 30 percent of the budget in national cost guide data. Keeping the boxes and changing the doors is the biggest single lever you have.
Countertops come next, and the material sets the number. Installed prices in 2026 guides run about $8 to $27 per square foot for laminate. Quartz runs $15 to $70 and granite $10 to $140. A short galley counter and a long island are different projects.
Backsplash and wall tile runs about $15 to $40 per square foot installed. Ceramic sits near the bottom at $12 to $32, porcelain at $14 to $28, and marble at $30 to $150. Pulling an old backsplash off the wall adds about $3 to $6 per square foot. Tight patterns with more cuts take longer to set.
New kitchen flooring is the last big line. Vinyl plank lands around $3 to $10 per square foot installed. The old floor comes up first and the surface has to be flat. That prep is part of the price.
